Following the release of their recent single “Reassurance", Melbourne electro-quartet The Harpoons have announced they're hitting the road in early 2018 on a celebratory east coast tour, presented by Purple Sneakers.
Kicking off at Brisbane’s beloved Black Bear Lodge on Thursday February 22, The Harpoons will then head south, bringing their exhilarating live set to Sydney’s iconic Lansdowne Hotel on Friday February 23, before wrapping up with a hometown party at Melbourne’s Howler on Saturday March 3. If their recent mind-blowing Melbourne Music Week set is anything to go by, you won’t want to miss these shows.
Released on Caroline Australia and premiering via Complex UK & BBC Radio's Future First Playlist, “Reassurance” is the band's homage to UK garage following a 3 month stint living, writing and recording in London; exploring its tiny basement clubs, janky jazz bars and fried chicken culture. Since its release, the track has earned Beat Mag’s ‘Single of the Week’, has received “full marks” from Purple Sneakers for its “jittery and syncopated club sound” as well as radio play across Australia and beyond.
"Reassurance" follows on from the screaming diva moment of “Do You Want My Love” which premiered via Rolling Stone earlier this year and was their debut release on label Caroline Australia. One of this year's most welcome releases, the track shot to international acclaim, premiering via Los Angeles radio giants KCRW and UK tastemakers Clash Magazine. The song also garnered local support from i-D, Triple J, FBi Radio and Triple R peaking at #13 on the Spotify Australia Viral 50 Charts. The release was followed by three standout sets at Brisbane's BIGSOUND and two single launches in Sydney and Melbourne, selling out their hometown in pre-sales.
Since the release of their much loved debut album Falling For You, The Harpoons have developed a reputation for delivering innovative and soulful pop music. This year, the band signed to prestigious touring agencies Select Music (Andy Bull, Client Liaison, Montaigne) and London-based Primary Talent (Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Purity Ring) - a sign of big things to come.
Don’t miss The Harpoons live this summer as they bring their addictive, unpredictable live show to a city near you and gear up for more new music in 2018 from the Melbourne favourites.
